The most important consideration when installing a tarmac driveway is to have it done by professionals. All tarmac driveways are installed to the same specification as block paving, in that, they are dug out and stoned up to a thickness of 4 to 8 inches, depending on the ground underneath, with type 1 Hard-core and compacted with a roller. The tarmac is laid in two layers, the base course will be around 50mm thick and the top coursewill be around 25mm thick when rolled out. Customers have a choice of red or black, quality top coats. This should then be levelled and compacted using the appropriate machinery with all the necessary drainage considerations taken care of.
The actual tarmac covering should be laid with a 12.5mm base layer followed by a 25mm wearing course, which should give you a tarmac driveway that lasts for many, many years to come.

Heightened existing wall and built a terrace patio with block paving
It was estimated that the job would take 3 days and although we asked for a bit more work to be done, it was still done in the 3 days and no extra cost. It has completely transformed our outdoor area, the brickwork really matches the existing wall and the block paving is fantastic. Thank you Johnny for recommending it.
